New Improved AlvaroBautista.co.uk Website Now Live

I’m very pleased to announce that we have now completed the overhaul of www.alvarobautista.co.uk and that it is once again accessible to all.

It is a major redesign, and has moved away from being a ‘pretty but flat’ set of pages to a completely fully-featured news site with a huge news archive and a site search.

Although we all share and discuss news and ongoing rumours and race weekends on the BatiFans forum, we wanted to make a complete and comprehensive English-language Alvaro Bautista news service available to anybody around the world, and have so far added all of the news, interviews and features from the 2009 season and pre-season (including some videos) to the site, and will hope to add the 2008 news soon as well.

You can also comment on the posts if you wish so long as you use an email address when posting; and you can also share any news item by clicking on one of the buttons below it to post it to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and many other social bookmarking sites - as well as being able to email it with one click.
You can also subscribe to RSS news feeds of the new site so you can find out instantly whenever news is added.

We have also added some special “relaunch” downloads from the excellent ruushki - icons and wallpapers - which you can find on the site’s new Downloads page.
At the same time, we have also taken the opportunity to add some new E-Cards, so you can now have an even better choice of action pics, arty pics and cute pics from this year right back through all the seasons of Bati’s career in the world championships.

I hope you like the new www.alvarobautista.co.uk website, and I hope it is a useful extra resource for you - and for our many, many thousands of other visitors.

Alvaro Bautista Catalunya Helmet Desktop Icons

To celebrate Alvaro's superb victory at Catalunya last weekend, it seems only right that the best way to do it is with a set of desktop icons of his special "Man of La Mancha" helmet.
As per usual I've done a set of Mac OSX and a set for Windows XP/Vista, each of which contains two icons of the helmet - one with a drop-shadow and one without.
All carefully crafted and alpha-channelled to pimpify your computer desktop to the very best effect.

Icons Ahoy!

Not desktop icons this time, but icons of the "web" variety - nice, crafted graphics for you to use as avatars on forums and blogs.
And they're not by me either.
So all kudos to... stv21 on the Sonrisa de Talavera blog for this set and also to ruushki for this set.
Both artists go way beyond Alvaro so you'll find some other MotoGP, motor sport and even entertainment figures in these collections.
As ever with this kind of thing, do pay attention to any requirements for crediting and sharing - or not sharing - their work.

Alvaro Helmet Desktop Icons For Windows XP & Vista

Okay - here are the icons of Alvaro nice red & silver 2008 helmet, prepped for Windows XP and Vista. As with the Mac OSX versions, there are two - one with a drop shadow and one without.

Alvaro Bautista '08 Helmet Desktop Icons For Mac OSX

Alvaro had two main helmet designs in the 2008 season; a standard one (on his new Suomy lid) that was a hotch-potch of blue and red and white - and not terribly elegant - and another that was very much red and silver and which owed more to the cool stylings of his 2007 helmet.
I've converted this second one into a couple of icons for those of you out there who use Mac OSX. (Though I'll get on with sorting out a Windows version soon of course...)
The set comprises of two options: one being a basically 'clean' version, and the other having a nifty little drop-shadow that will look pretty swish on your desktop (particularly if it's a Batifans.com desktop wallpaper download).

New Alvaro Desktop Icons For Mac OSX & Windows PC

On a genuine piece of Bati-related news (and certainly Bati fan news) I've just published a new set of Alvaro Bautista desktop icons for Mac OSX and Windows PC.
These are great for replacing drab system icons for your folders, applications and drives; and I've done a mix based around a nice shot of Alvaro on the 2008 bike (with the 19 on it, unlike my last icon set which featured the pre-season bike) - and created 9 variants based around drive, netowrk and folder symbols. They are all nicely detailed and feature everything you'd expect from a state-of-the-art icon set, including alpha-channeled drop shadows so they look gorgeous on your desktop.

How do you download these?

I've been messing around with some desktop icon designs based on Alvaro's helmet; ideal for making your desktop look that little bit funkier and cooler...
There's two packs - one for Mac OSX and one for Windows PC - and you can use them to spruce up drives, folders or files on your computer by replacing them with these (as shown above - that's the Mac OSX version at 128x128 pixels by the way).
